Ayrton Senna's 18K Gold Rolex Daytona Watch
Ayrton Senna might just be the greatest F1 driver of all time - alive or dead. But as all top athletes know, he didn't do it alone. You could say that, without Angelo Parrilla (the man who discovered Senna), his career might not have been so fruitful. That's why, as a thank you to Parilla, Senna gave his mentor this Rolex Daytona chronograph in 18-carat gold. And now it's up for auction.
Even without the Senna connection, it would be a spectacular Rolex with its gold case and matching bracelet, contrasting black-rimmed subdials and 31-jewel automatic movement. But it is certainly reinforced by the link with the racer - with a case back engraved with his name. And if the historic Rolex Daytona isn't enough to make this auction enticing, it also comes with a signed photograph and hard hat, a letter of confirmation from Parilla himself, and even the original packaging. It won't come cheap, however, as Phillips expects this chronograph to sell for over $101,000.
