History

The Heuer Autavia Ref. 1563, nicknamed “Chronomatic”, is an emblematic watch produced by Heuer in the 1970s. This rare and sought-after model embodies a defining period in watchmaking: the advent of the automatic chronograph.

In the 1960s, Heuer, Breitling, Hamilton-Büren and Dubois Dépraz collaborated on a revolutionary project: to develop an automatic chronograph movement. The result, unveiled in 1969, was the calibre 11, one of the first integrated automatic movements for chronographs. The Autavia Ref. 1563 was one of the first watches to benefit from it, marking Heuer's entry into the modern era of sports watchmaking.
